Summer Series

As a follow up to last summer's creative writing series "Retellings," Hold That Thought talked to authors and academics about "Writing from History." Through June and July, host Rebecca King featured biographers, historians, fiction writers, poets, memiorists, and playwrights to discover how these different writers use the past in their work. Authors, including Sarah Shun-Lien Bynum, Sean B. Carroll, Paul Legault, and Kathleen Finneran, along with Washington University in St. Louis historians, including professors Jean Allman and Derek Hirst, offer stories about the crazy twists research can take and discuss what writers in the present owe their subjects of the past.
